Umai Group introduces a new corporate structure
The new single structure reflects how Umai Group has grown and lays the foundation for further growth in retail, logistics, distribution and other regional projects.
Umai Group announces a new stage of its development and a corporate structure in which Umai Group acts as a holding company uniting the group's existing businesses and future projects in Central Asia.
In more than 20 years Umai Group has grown from a single store into the largest consumer-sector company in Kyrgyzstan. Today the group goes far beyond retail and includes modern logistics infrastructure, its own production and other businesses.
The holding was formed to use the synergy between the businesses, make management more efficient, attract investment and carry out new projects and partnerships.
Within the holding, the retail business in the Kyrgyz Republic will develop under the name Umai Retail, still uniting the Globus, Narodny, Dostor and SPAR brands that shoppers know well. Distribution, logistics and infrastructure projects will also become part of Umai Group.
Retail remains the core of Umai Group, and Kyrgyzstan remains one of its main markets for long-term development and investment. Stores keep working as usual, and previously announced plans to develop the retail network and logistics infrastructure in the country stay unchanged.
In 2026 Umai Group has already announced several major initiatives, including a partnership with IFC to finance a new modern distribution centre in Bishkek.
“Creating the Umai Group holding company is a natural reflection of how the company has grown, and it gives us an effective structure to manage the further growth of the group's assets. Retail remains at the heart of our business, and we will keep investing actively in its development in Kyrgyzstan.” — Rud Pedersen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Umai Group
